On The Intrusiveness Of Inspirational Thought
Imagine looking around you, and not seeing things for what they are. Instead seeing through them, to what is below the surface.
This happens to me most of the time, I see a broken LED roadsign. It’s never a “broken sign”, it’s always ideas like how did they package the modules, it’s got a clear horizontal split, so it’s probably a square LED module that’s tied together, easy to replace.
Seeing a utility worker marking a road, fairly mundane eh? Well they have the paint, and they have another wand. You can’t just observe the guy, no… You need automatically disect and seek to undersand the second wand. Quickly, easily, you see it as the tool they use to detect the pipe, probably a metal detector or similar.. But what about ceramic or tar/paper pipes? Oh that’s right, we were just driving past a utility worker marking the street.
Inspiration can be an amazing experience. When you have that Eureka moment and everything comes together synchronizing in a moment of easy understanding. However, micro-moments of understanding can be incredibly intrusive and incredibly draining when they happen continually. No mental rest, no directed inspiration, just micro-inspirations continually.
Every. Single. Out. Of. Place. Thing.
